The Citadel made its debut on June 18, 2017 as part of the celebration of the release of Minecraft 1.12: "A World of Color". It took approximately four months to complete and is one of the few server builds constructed live on the map instead of in the build world. It was BadWolfMC's first city.
The Citadel was again updated on October 1, 2024 as part of BadWolfMC's 8th Anniversary Celebration to include a quest line that pulled together several of the city's existing features with updated mechanics and an added prize.

Quests
Step inside the Citadel Spire and talk to The First Doctor to embark on a special questline to unlock the Sonic Shimmer, a soul-bound tool designed for disguising yourself, trolling your friends, and hiding from enemies.

Grotto Challenges
Four ancient grottoes survived the Gallifreyan Civil Wars that destroyed the original capitol. Discover their ruins and complete their challenges for sweet prizes! Challenges include mini-mazes, musical puzzles, and a wild game of chest roulette.

Take over a Dalek ship, set it to self destruct, then leap to safety avoiding the obstacles to land safely in the water below. Non-quest access to the dropper (for repeated fun!) can be found in the Dalek ship that has penetrated the sphere.

The Cloister Maze is the largest and most difficult maze on the BadWolfMC Network, with nine checkpoints, five custom mobs including Weeping Angel Wraiths that teleport you back in time (to the maze start), Cybermats, ghoulish Cloister Wraiths that guard each checkpoint, and the maze boss, Omega, and his fiery minions.
Maze Logistics
The Cloister Maze's 9 checkpoints use a player's spawn point and compass to help them navigate the maze. Clicking on each NPC inside each checkpoint will set your spawn to that checkpoint and will update your compass to point to the next checkpoint. As long as you do not reset your spawn point by sleeping in a bed or completing other quests or vaults that manipulate your spawn points, the maze can effectively be paused and resumed even across server restarts. To resume the maze, simply ... meet your end. If at any point your compass location is reset, just click on the nearest checkpoint NPC to set it back.
