Hardcore is the primary feature of and available only on the BadWolfMC Gamma server. It is a popular gamemode in which survival is of the utmost importance.

Gameplay

Hardcore play is much the same as normal survival Minecraft with one key difference—upon death, players are banned from the Gamma server (but not the BadWolfMC Network) for 3 days.

Fate Coins

Fate Coins are a mechanic on BadWolfMC by which players banned from Gamma can restore their honor, unban themselves, and jump right back in. They are given in the form of a gold coin on BadWolfMC Alpha or BadWolfMC Beta which can be right-clicked from the hotbar to unban the user. The coin is consumed upon use regardless of ban status, so it is advised only to use while banned on Gamma and to otherwise save the coin for when it is needed.

Fate Coins can be purchased from the BadWolfMC Store in packages of 2 or 5 coins. Immediately upon purchase the coins are given to all players online on Alpha or Beta, therefore the timing of purchase and your location on the network should be carefully considered.

Seasons

To keep things interesting, Gamma will experience "seasons" in which mechanics may differ or additional rules or conditions may be implemented. These will be decided by the community via a poll held on our Discord server.

Season One: The Siege of Trenzalore

Multiple random spawns of custom mobs are active including Daleks and Cybermen.

Hardcore Worlds

Trenzalore & Trenzalore Nether

Much like on BadWolfMC Alpha, resource gathering on Gamma is prohibited in Trenzalore (the main overworld) and the Trenzalore Nether (the main nether world), and is instead limited to the three resource worlds. We have preserved some of the previous mechanics from our magical worlds and nether portals remain inactive. The Trenzalore Nether can only be accessed for the first time by making the perilous journey to the temple at Mt. Etna (approx. 2,500 blocks south of spawn) in which a portal to the Trenzalore Nether can be found. Upon entering the temple the Etna warp will be unlocked in your /warps menu for future use. Homes and residences can also be used normally once created.

Resource Worlds

The main overworld resource world is accessed by the /resource command or by using /warps and selecting the Resource World icon.

The Resource End and Resource Nether worlds can be accessed for the first time through the magical temples at Lyonnesse (approx. 2,000 blocks north of spawn) and Mt. Etna (approx. 2,500 blocks south of spawn), respectively. The trip to each temple must only be made once since entering each temple will unlock its warp in the /warps menu.

All three resource worlds are reset approximately every 6 months as needed.

FAQ

Can I still use /back?

You can! Just not on death. The /back command now works only to return you to your previous location after a teleport.

Is there an end grinder?

There isn't a server XP farm at least, although players may create public farms (within the rules) and post them on the Community Board inside the Tardis. Merlin's Tower can also be accessed in the /warps menu for a free enchanting table and anvils.

Is there a live map for the resource world?

Yes and no. The Gamma resource worlds are copies of the Alpha resource worlds, so the map would be the same. To preserve significant resources in generating and storing the map we opted not to include a map on Gamma. If players are interested in finding a specific biome in the Gamma resource world they can note the coordinates of that biome from the Alpha resource world map and travel to the same coordinates in the Gamma resource world.

How do the warps work?

The /warps menu works much the same as it does on Alpha, although some warps need to be unlocked first by physically visiting the target location. This is hardcore after all! We can't make it TOO easy for you!

How do the seasons work?

To keep things interesting, Gamma will experience "seasons" in which mechanics may differ or additional rules or conditions may be implemented. These will be decided by the community via a poll held on our Discord server. A new season does not necessarily mean that the map will be reset, and could be something quite small. Season One, for example, simply had an increase in random custom mob spawns.
